Through a journey into Italian Art, we’ve sought to unite the elegance of the Renaissance with the lavish Baroque style, inspired by artists creating refined compositions with extreme mastery and with the same care that we have always put into our chocolate! Thus was born our new “Gems” collection celebrating Italian art and beauty through a homage to the technique of commesso Fiorentino, a prestigious form of decoration characterised by attention to detail and the use of precious materials. This refined technique has ancient origins, deriving from the art of opus sectile used in the Roman era. Perfected in Florence during the Medicean period, it then spread across Italy over the course of the 1500s. Marbles, granites and gemstones are beautifully combined in a flawless work of refining and polishing. The result is a work of art so meticulously detailed it could be an oil painting.
